CivicWorks

CivicWorks approached us with the desire to upgrade their existing office space to incorporate a more flexible workspace and imbue it with some lively personality to better service their youthful and growing team. Our team first approached the planning of the space, reconfiguring flex offices along the perimeter glazing for more focused work spaces and eliminating an unused meeting room to provide more multipurpose work + meet spaces. New sit stand desking was incorporated in the reconfigured open office space which also incorporates a large work island and the CivicWorks jungle. Incorporating plant life into the space was a key goal. The existing reception and team lounge space was completely rethought. A new larger working lounge was introduced with a series of custom and flexible furniture pieces that can be reconfigured to better suit the needs of the team on a daily basis. An open steel shelving unit divides the work space from the lounge and serves as a place to house the many awards and accolades of the team.

The design team introduced highly textural materials and bright colours throughout the space to contrast the existing stark white interior. Commercial carpet tiles were used to create area carpets throughout the office as a foundation for the residential inspired vibe. Natural white oak, raw steel, and tactile fabrics were also used to substantiate the design. Pops of mustard yellow, powder blue, and kelly green were introduced, with an emphasis on maintaining a joyful and sophisticated colour palette.
